Sweet Voice by Layla Roots
Don't listen to the sweet voice on your shoulder
bittersweet, pleasurable, tempting sound
Pruriently and constantly seducing you
This voice sounds like a hell of fun
Every word goes down like honey
this juicy flavor tempts you to get naughty
You know that at the end you'll regret
But you want to give in so badly to pleasure
It's the devil on your shoulder
Playing games with your head
You know you shouldn't be listening at all
inner battlefield between good and evil
But this sound is so compelling and luscious
A plaything in a game of light and darkness
Give in, just do it, it will be so much fun
Don't think about consequences - so boring
It's all worth it, take the way downside
Do you have the guts to resist me?
It's the devil on your shoulder
Playing games with your head
It's the devil on your shoulder
Playing games with your head

Broken by Layla Roots
Do you know these times in your life,
when everything seems to make no sense?
The road you're going down
leads to neverwhere, neverwhere.
You are walking into darkness,
no light at the end of the tunnel
you don't know if hiding
or running is the better choice
You are scared of everything
the now, the past, the future
big black clouds in your head,
thinking is not possible.
On a ship in the endless ocean
you've been swallowed by the sea
tumbling to the ground
man forges his own destiny.
You feel it creeping onto you,
the ease to give in and let go,
her grip is warm and welcoming,
she tells you to come home.
The solitude embraces you,
deafening silence everywhere
and as you turn to memories,
You wish that you could flee.
Your soul, your mind seem broken
broken into parts, broken into pieces
soul and mind seem broken.
You're broken into parts, broken into pieces,
broken into parts and broken into pieces,
broken into parts and pieces.
Eventually you cannot fake,
your heart's pounding, you're afraid,
for what comes next for you- but wait
Have you forgone to forge your fate?
A moment of silence,
you finally find yourself.
You wake up and open your eyes
You're hungry for life!
And you recognize,
that to live you had to die,
to ease the pain, to quit the doubts,
to be completley you.
You're taking all of your strength,
The faith, the hope, the love for life.
You're rising and waking up,
here you are - You want to live!
Your soul, your mind seem broken
broken into parts, broken into pieces
soul and mind seem broken.
You were broken into parts, broken into pieces,
broken into parts and broken into pieces,
broken into parts and pieces.

Inner Child

Inner Child by Layla Roots
You forget how it was to be
a little and innocent child
Looking at the world
with eyes wide open and curiosity.
Seeing in everything
miracles and wonders of life
Lying on the ground
looking up to the sky and
wondering if you could fly
Where is your inner child
which believes that you can fly
so high
Where is the rebell in you
who fights for his dreams
his rights and his life
Where is this part of you
which thinks that anything
is possible, so doable and reachable
Where is you inner child
which believes that you can fly
so high
Oh, you regret so much
so many things you did and didn't in your life
Looking at your lifetime and all the things
you missed cause of vanity
Please remember
how it feels to be really alive
Lying on the ground
looking up to the sky and
wondering if you could fly
Where is your inner child
which believes that you can fly
so high
Where is the rebell in you
who fights for his dreams
his rights and his life
Where is this part of you
which thinks that anything
is possible, so doable and reachable
Where is you inner child
which believes that you can fly
Oh, you forget oh, how it was to dream
by day and by night
Seeing all the things
which are making life so liveable
Living life
to the fullest and total consciously
Lying on the ground
looking up to the sky and
wondering if you could fly

Old Man by Layla Roots
This is the Story of an Old Man
Once he lived a real good life with money and his wife
Than everything fell apart
his wife died
This is the story of an Old Man, poor Old Man.
He startet offering space for prostitutes in his bar
than the filty pimps came
they took everything from him
This is the story of an Old Man, poor Old Man.
Everybody turned his back on him
even his own family
giving him money to dissapear.
This is the story of an Old Man, poor Old Man.
He got lost in Purple haze with Mister Postman
Getting high on everything he finds
Trying to ease his pain
This of the story of an Old Man, poor Old Man.

Outta Control

Outta Control by Layla Roots
Every day of the week
you have to get up pretty early
You hate that day
with the first blink of your eyes
It feels like a thousand pounds
are lying on your whole body
Ponderous slipping out of your bed
Putting one food in front of the other
In the mirror is a face
looking back you don't know
Tired of life like it is,
worn out and emotionally dulled
Controlled and pursued by rules,
like to be tied up in a strait-jacket
which is getting tighter and tighter
slowly squeezing off your air.
You cannot take it anymore
the pressure gets higher and higher
every part of your innermost
threatens to explode.
Breaking your chains
you get outta control
Reaching for freedom
you get outta control
Your life is directed by
so many things - you didn`t ask for
you`re the main charakter
of an inhuman and cruel movie.
You won't be anymore
a will-less playing piece
in this damned game
of nowadays society.
Breaking your chains
you get outta control
Reaching for freedom
you get outta control

Only Water

Only Water by Layla Roots
On the endless ocean,
waves turn to walls of shiver.
There is a yawning gap in your soul
you need something to anchor.
So close and yet so far away
such a cruel game to play
so close and yet so far away
everything appears grey on grey
In the deeps of your spirit
is an untameable and wild storm.
Charon - the boatman - is yet betting
when he brings you to the other side.
So close and yet so far away
such a cruel game to play
so close and yet so far away
everything appears grey on grey

Dreamland by Layla Roots
Lying on your bed,
in a twilight state
between sleep and reality
things become blurred
Am I in a dream in a dream
What am I?
Dreamland of unreality
Your ancestors standing around you
vibrant, vivid and ave-inspiring
Pointing you the way to the start
of your journey to the stars.
Followig the path of the spiraled snake
through tests and trials, rough and rugged terrain.
Down in the dark forest
black branches rattling in the wind
Shadows lurking behind the trees
Moonlig ht and Darkness become twinned
There is a terrifying silhouette
starts to haunt you with a broad grin.
Dreamland of unreality
Overwhelmed by fear and anxiety
running through the pitch-black woods.
You fall and see into his eyes,
no longer can you live with lies.
It is you - you run away from
your dark side - now you´re in peace and calm
Dreamland of unreality

Kings and Queens by Layla Roots
You can be whatever you want
a Vampire in a tomb,
the savant idiot of your hood,
or a prophet of doom.
But take your life in your own hands
don't let you be ruled
Be not a Victim of circumstances
self-doubts and -hate pooled.
We are Kings and Queens
Ruling our world
It takes a lot of guts to run
counter to the trend.
Be a rocking daredevil
Breaking down the bounds.
Everything you ever wanted,
is on the other side of fear
Let absolutely nobody tell you
what to do, but you.
We are Kings and Queens
Ruling our world
We are Kings and Queens
Ruling our world
